C&C 34 Keel Bolts

I am a new owner of a C&C 34 1978 Vintage.
I am trying to seal and fibre glass the keel joint .The boat has a bit of the C&C smile in the the forward section of keel, extends about 1.5 ft back from leading edge.
Before sealing I would like to check keel bolt tension and was wondering if there is a recommended torque for bolt nuts.
Currently appears to be greater than 90 ft.lbs.
Does this sound right. All bolts were tight with no movement apparent.

Previous owner stated keel was repaired professionally a few years back.

Any comments and advice appreciated.

Bob, here are the recommended keel bolt torque specifications. Make sure you check under the mast as some C&C models have a keel bolt hidden under the mast butt. My C&C 29-2 does.

KEEL BOLT TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS

MEGA ONLY 3/4" bolt dia. 90 ft. lbs

C&C 40 1-1/4" bolt dia. 450 ft. lbs.

MODELS 3/4" bolt dia. 250 ft. lbs.
1" bolt dia. 350 ft. lbs.

The 34 has one under mast step also.

Bolts are 1"

Now to figure out how to apply that much torgue.

Location to work and my body strength are causing a problem.

May have to get a young buck to help and a little more leverage.

Thanks for the info.

C&C 34 keel boats

Some of my keel bolts are 1" diameter also. I use a torque wrench with a 3/4" drive. It is 36" long so it's not tremendously difficult to get to 350 ft. lbs. of torque. The bolt under the keel is most likely the one causing the smile. It probably hasn't been torqued in many years because some owners don't know that it's hiding under the mast. Good luck with the new boat.

Tightened all the bolts, one under mast and smaller one forward were a bit loose. All others were very tight.
Cleaned area around keel joint, sealed with 4200 and then applied 5 layers of matt and woving
using west system.Doing final fairing today, temperature is dropping and then in spring 5 layers of inter protect and then launch.
Hopefully problem solved but of course never sure. Time will tell.
Previous boat was C&C 35 MK 1 and seam was not even visible.
