C-250 vs. Hunter 260

I am thinking of moving up from a 14'daysailor (a Hunter)to one of these boats. The Hunter Owners site had a lively comparison thread recently, but I thought I'd try the question out here. I'd use the boat on Lake Michigan for family daysailing and some overnights. My impression so far is that the Catalina may be a more capable, livelier boat, while the Hunter's advantages are roominess and maybe easier sailhandling. Hunters also appear to be easier to find in the 2-5 year-old range, at least in the Midwest. (Not clear if that's a good thing.) My specific concerns are stability, comfort and relative simplicity so that my kids can be involved in handling the boat. I'd welcome any thoughts. (I'd also be interested in thoughts on the Precision 23 and Santana 2023, which make up the rest of my list.) Thanks.

Try asking your question here

Dave, Somebody recently asked this same question at the C25/250 Assoc. web forum. I recommend you check it out, and if you can't find the string, ask your question there. http://www.catalina25-250.org/forum/ I looked at both myself, and bought a new 250WB. The Hunter has more head room than my 250WB, but everything else I compared led me to the Catalina. Happy Hunting, Tray
