The winch on my swing keel does not work right. When trying to raise the keel, the winch handle will lock in place. At that time, I can only lower the keel, and start over again, hoping it will catch. It seems as tho the ratchet dosen't engage. Lowering the keel has the same problem. Fiddling with the winch handle, sometimes will get it to work. My C-22 is a 1977 model. Has anyone with an older Catalina w/swing keel had this problem? Was it repairable, or should I replace it? Thanx for any advice.
