looking for a good source of documentation, tips, tricks for the C-22. I see Catalina Direct and The association have a 150 page tech manual book. Is it any good? Any other good sources without continually searching everywhere?

The Catalina 22 Technical Manual available to members of the Catalina 22 National Sailing Association is actually over 700 pages with over 500 articles available in PDF format. The Catalina Direct manual is actually a Handbook with stuff you can buy from them... it is not really a technical manual book.
Agreed. I bought both. The so called manual from Catalina Direct is a glorified sales catalog. The tech manual from the association on the other hand is fantastic and worth every cent.

Ahh. Ok. I thought c-direct was selling the associations manual. Sounds like the Association would be a good investment then.

Catalina Direct is selling membership in the Association and the Tech Manual...as a reseller.

You can also get membership in the association directly, which gives the option of buying the tech manual in PDF format instead of CD. The PDF version is $10 cheaper.
The C22 association also sells subscriptions to Catalina Yacht's (the manufacturer) "mainSHEET" magazine.
That magazine is not to be confused with The C22 Association "mainBRACE" magazine. You can download the current issues for free and buy access to the back issues.

There is also the Catalina 22 "Owners Manual" which is the little publication that was printed by Catalina Yachts and included with each new boat. C22NSA membership also includes access to this publication. There is also access to the original Catalina 22 Parts Catalog. Tons of resources. You can spend days and weeks on the internet searching for C22 resources. or get them all in one spot with C22NSA membership. Many very common Catalina 22 specific questions I read on this Forum and on the Catalina 22 Owner's Group are already answered with the C22NSA resources. No other sailboat Class comes close to offering the resources that are available with C22NSA membership, although many other Classes also have excellent resources. Good luck!

+1 for @rpludwig Literally sat down with this forum and read every thread that was longer than a page and anything relevant from a resto perspective. Stingy and Cloud notwithstanding (both outstanding), I found a myriad of perspectives on everything I was contemplating. Single handedly the most valuable (and free!!!!) resource in existence.
And yes-- still join the C22 Association and grab the tech manual, also worth every penny and supports a good cause.

if u really wanna know the "important stuff", just read all Gene's posts, (& LR's & CloudDivers), simple enough and most all your concerns will be answered....caution though, don't ask Gene about "weldments", you don't wanna go there, nor does he!
