I have a Hunter 280. Today, I got a call from the Marina that an alarm was going off on my boat. This was just after remnants of Hurricane Ike went thru Carlyle Lake in Illinois with winds up to 70 mph and a lot of rain. I went to investigate. Both the DC Main and AC were turned off and the key was not in the ignition. The buzzer was sounding with low oil pressure and water hi-temp lights on. I inserted the key into the ignition and turn the key on and then back to off. The buzzer and lights went off for a couple of minutes and then came back on. I would jiggle the key in the ignition and the buzzer would seem to stop for a short while. Has anyone every experience anything like this. I am suspecting water in the ignition.

That would be my guess also

Pull the panel and blow it out. You can use those cans of pressurized air that is use for computers. Back in the day when I had cars with Lucas wiring I would spray WD40 to remove the water. Might not want to do that on this though.

Seems like the engine panel may be wired “hot” so power is applied at all times.. Most units are wired so that the battery selector/isolator switch cuts power to everything, including the engine panel. Was your battery selector switch off, and not just the Bat switch on the electrical panel? I have heard of panels wired "hot" having a short in the start button after water intrusion. The button shorts, usually while the owner is away, and destroys the battery, the starter motor and/or starts a fire. Yes, it does sound like the water has ge-frazzled the key switch.
