Buying Catalina 22, repairs?

SO buying a 1984 Catalina 22 swing keel. Mast, rigging, sail, hull, swing keel are in impeccable shape, engine runs strong, etc.

No water damage in the cabin, nor inside the boat itself, really clean in there.

Attached are some pictures, what's the word on time and money to fix up the blue floor of the cockpit, it's torn up, the foundation feels solid but it's definitely coming apart there. In the same image there's some stuff from an old fish finder next to cabin entrance.

Apart from that, some spider cracking in the gelcoat, which I know isn't bad, just a few spots.

Inside, could use new cushions and paint of the wood.

So what's the rundown on costs/time for this stuff, and is there a spot to buy cushions, etc?

What would you say this boat is worth? Owner asking $3500 (trailer is large, extended tongue, has brakes.)

There are paints for non skid that can take of that floor for a reasonable amount. Interior cushions are another matter. New upholstery professionally done is going to be over 1K. Do you know a good seamstress who could make slip covers? My mother in law did that for me and it turned out pretty good. We took off the old upholstery and bought plywood bottoms for the foam cushions and she made covers with elastic bottoms that went over the plywood. Worked good looked good.

Then again, how handy are you? You could buy a good used heavy duty sewing machine, use the old cushions as patterns, and make a new set for half of the price.

Not super professional but easy and looks good is a knotted fleece cover. I snagged this pic off of the web so it is not mine but my daughter actually did this for one of my first sailboats (I don't have any pics).

There are litterally hundreds of fleece patterns to pick from. We found one with compass roses and it really made the cabin pop. Just lay the fleece over your old foam, cut it a little over sized, then snip strips every inch. Tie them together and trim off the excess. Or leave the frill--- it looks fine like that too. Easy peasy lemon squeezy. And the fleece wicks water very well so things dry quickly and it is cool on your skin on a hot summer day.

Edit: You can also flip it inside out and have the frill only along one seem. Easy to hide the frill against the hull or bulkhead if you don't want it to show.

Not sure what you mean by the cockpit floor is torn up. Looks like a new coat of anti-skid like KiwiGrip is all it needs. You can do that yourself. As far as the cushions, you can figure out about how much fabric you need and find some on sale. Take the cushions to various upholstery shops and get estimates just for labor with your fabric. On my H30 project boat, upholstery is one thing I am leaving to a professional. Or, you can sail her like she is. You may find out after the newness wears off that she looks good the way she is. But if I were you I would at least have someone make a fitted "v" shaped cover to fit over that hideous 80's plaid v-berth section.

I ran into a guy on the docks this past Saturday that was lugging some new cushions down and gave him a hand. He bought the material he wanted on-line and then advertise on Craigslist and found someone that recovered all his C25 cushions for $500....

The lady was an amateur seamstress working out of her home. I got her # as I want an outboard motor cover made along with some winch covers and maybe a companion way cover..

Thanks for the info, I actually have the idea to purchase some outdoor furniture cushions ing good shape off of Craigslist and slap them on the inside. Sow on a couple tie downs so even if they don't fit perfectly they will hold nicely. The V part I'll probably just cover.

If it truly is the gelcoat all worn off the cockpit floor, I should think that's easy enough to repair with a good bit of sanding, then a couple layers of woven roving and some epoxy. Let cure a week, scrub off the amine blush with soap and water, and then paint with your non-skid of choice, either something like Interlux Interdeck, or Kiwigrip.
