I like my 3.5 tohatsu

for what that's worth. If you are only lake sailing a 6 to 8 h.p. would be plenty. If you have to deal with currents or such maybe the larger would be better. my thoughts. gene

Last month I retired my 8hp mercury and put a new 4hp 4stroke yamaha on my 22 oday. The four hours pushes the boat to hull speed at just over half throttel, runs great and is very economical. My big deciding factor was weight. The 4hp was as much as I wanted to lift. Larry

Tohatsu

Mike, I have a Nissan 8 (made by Tohatsu) on my O'Day 25.... had it for 3 years... runs great and I have no complaints except for the fact that their service/dealer network is somewhat limited. Just make sure you buy the 20" long shaft at minimum.... cause you won't be happy with the short shaft. Good luck!!

Outboard Power

There are alot of good outboards out there, both two and four stroke. Check parts availability.....its real important.
