My wife and I are about to sign on the dotted line for a 2005 C-310. I'm really excited about the roller furling main but I have questions about reliability. How have the Charleston Spar roller furling mains perfomed for those of you that have them? I've talked to a few people with them and they seem to love them but I'm looking for some more specific types of issues if there are any...?? Once we have purchased our boat I'll add pics and articles to my web site below.. Thanks, Rodd C.

Rodd, I'm in the same boat

We will be taking delivery in about 2 weeks on our 310 w/roller furling main (Hull#312). I just spent some time on the boat yesterday, and so far, it really looks great and I'm pretty fired up for sailing season to get here in Michigan. I do know that, if the sail is pinched in the furler, it may end up damaged. Beyond that, I'm curious to see what kinds of responses you get. Congratulations!

I like the furling main

I've had my 310 (#255) for a year and a half and I haven't had any problems with the furling main. It's easy to use if you follow the simple instructions from Charleston Spar. I've included a link to the use and maintenance instructions. The main thing to remember is that the boom needs to be positioned slightly over the horizontal plane when furling or unfurling by using the topping lift. I hope you both enjoy your new boats!

Looks like they don't have a message board yet, but they may have something on the Sailnet boards. http://www.catalina310.org/
