I am looking at purchasing a 1995 Hunter 336. The particular boat that I am looking at is the one that has the wraparound salon without the privacy door leading into the v-berth. There is only a curtain separating the v-berth from the salon. I do not see this as an inconvenience, and may possibly like the wraparound salon better as it appears to seat more people for entertaining down below. I would like some feedback from 336 owners that have this particular model with regards to how you like the layout and if you would prefer to have the 336 layout with the privacy door leading into the v-berth. Any other comments that may be offered on the 336 would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Gary

Private V-Berth

We have the private v-berth layout and I haven't seen the open version you're looking at so I really can't compare them. However, I can say that I love the 336. Only problems are the "toy" main traveler and the huge main which can be difficult to raise. There have been other postings regarding the 336 in the archives. See especially the link below. Private vs. Open

Gary, I had a 1995 HUN 29.5 with the open salon like the 336 you are looking at. I purchased a 336 with private v-birth. The 29.5 open salon provided a much larger appearing salon. I also believe that the open salon version provides much more storage under seats and under the birth. (comparing to my 29.5) If my sailing were primarily two people overnight, I would opt for the open version. The private is great for family or two couples, but does come at a price of storage and openness. We love our 336! Thanks to the feedback on this site we purchased it this winter. Sailing her is identical to our 29.5 except a larger sail area. I also raise the main at the mast. Much easier, then winch the last 18 inches. Good Luck, Bryce bcuster@neo.rr.com

336 interior plan

We have a 336 with the private v berth. Let me say that we like it and perfer it to the open berth. This is just my opinion, take it for what it is worth. My thoughts are that it is too much like a 70's conversion pit sofa. You will have to step on the cushion to get in and out of the berth if you (or guest/family menbers) plan on using it. I thougth it would be incovient and clumsy to get in and out of(think about 3 a.m. and making a trip to the head)As far a seating more people around the table think about getting in and out from around the table. I also asked a dealer why two of his brokerage boats (336s) were not selling and he said it was because of the interior plan (the wrap around plan)He had a 340 with the private v berth that sold in less then a week. Go figure ! My point is that it may be a resale issue, as I don't feel the wraparound is a very popular resell.Again this is just my thoughts and if you prefer the wraparound plan go for it! i think that you will like the 336 overall, great boat with a few guirks. The main being hard to raise is one but can be overcome, one thing I do is leave the reefing lines disconected from the sail (just pulleys on sail)so the you are not pulling all the lines up with the sail and only a 30 second job to hook up the reefing system after sail is up.As far as the boat (reguardless of interior plan)you will like it. Good Luck !
