I am looking to add marine air to a H26 once I find one I like, not a window unit. I want to move the boat around and have creature comforts for my wife. How much will something like this cost me to add once i purchase my boat? And, do they work well? Any comments or help is appriciated. I have noticed that the H26 range is from $14,000 - $26,000 what is up w/ that? Can you add that much stuff?

H26 cost varies greatly

The cost of a H26 can actually vary this much. There is a ton of stuff you can add to these boats. I am guessing marine air is $2,500 - $3,000. Go to the Hunter boats for sale and there is a H26 w/ marine air for sale ( you rarely see this) it is described w/ more on it than I have ever seen. Just check it out, call the owner & ask questions if you are curious.

A/C

Having just purchased a H26 about 3 months ago, we noticed the wide difference in prices too. It varies with the condition of the boat and the options. Many of the options are close to a thousand each, so it adds up fast. Also, we noticed some of the boats did not come with trailors, so it would be another $3,000+ to get a new trailor. Our hunter came with "Cruisair" A/C (4800 BTU)that fits over the front hatch. It is a carry-on unit requiring shore power. Retails for $850. The previous owner said it was more than enough to keep the boat cooled down in eve/night, but could not keep up with the humid 90-100 degree days we get in the mid-west.

Air conditioning can be put on but it is a pain and unless you know how to do it, then I suggest the Cruise Air Carry ON. Mermaid makes a nice reverse cycle that I use on the 260. In fact, a little Honda generator will power that sucker when moored out. Crazy Dave Condon

Clay Thaxton has a nice description of a DIY installation. I hope to do this myself soon. See link below.
