Congratulations!

What a great boat! I'd work with a local canvas maker, so as to have custom made to make sure it height is suitable for you. Also don't forget a window to see your masthead. I wish I had your walk thru tramsom on my 31. Fair winds......

Hi Scott, we had a 1989 H28 for three years...

Nice boat. Have your surveyor pay special attention to any rudder delamination. Also any rudder post play beyond normal limits. Ours had a Wallas furnace that really helped keep the chill off. It also came with dodger, bimini and side curtains, which we used once. Dodger a must, but I prefer to sail without the bimini. Terry

The 28 is Great (rhymes too)

Scott, We have a '92 28, our next-door slip neighbor has an '89. Great boats. We love ours, and use it on an inland lake, as I assume you will do in Iowa. We have a Bimini, and use it under sail when just knocking around, at anchor and at the dock, but in our PHRF races, we leave it on the dock. Too much windage and it gets in the way. What do you need? Everything ... and it's all expensive. If it makes you go faster, or makes you more comfortable, it's worth it. You can't take it with you. A word of advice: you should be able to get into a 1990 Hunter '28 for the low $20's. If it's much more than that, keep looking.
