I am looking at buying a Hunter 37 Cutter 1980 model to refurbish. The boat is in the water but needs a new engine,cushions, electical panel, head, etc. It does have a new main and the other sails look good the rigging is in good shape. The hull is in pretty good shape. I am looking to buy it for $7000. My plan is to put about $15K-$20K into the refurbishment. I am not sure if it would be better to just buy a Hunter 37 that is operational or to take the time (1-2 Years) and fix this one up. I previously have owned a 1980 H37 Cutter for 10 years and a 1987 H40 Legend for 5 years so I do have experience with the boat. Any thoughts. thanks Tom

Hi Tom, Thought I would take a break from staining the inside teak from our 37 C to say hello. Being that you already had this boat before why not take the plunge again? The price is right and I've always felt that a great price for a big boat is always a good investment. What ever you do, don't be in a rush! We took on too much too soon! Right now I'd rather be out using her then putting her back together finishing the almost year long renovation. It's become a full time job for me everyday including weekends and I'm pooped! As soon as we have something to post we'll add more pics to the photo forum. For now Our 37 c is at least in the water but her sails have yet to be put on. Maybe the 4th we'll be able to go out. Good luck in your decision, she's a great vessel and I'm sure you'll have great luck with her again if you choose to make the investment! Laurie
