Love to hear the good and bad.
the galley sole creeks and cracks and even looks unflat. How big a problem is that?
front head pump is sticky?
standing rigging is OEM. 12500.00 I am told
running rigging is 4K. I am told
jib is original I am guess 4500 for a new one.
many coats of hard on bottom. I am guessing a soda blast is in order. Seller states he had to epoxy small areas of keel between paint layers??. Had rust spots. Do I need to epoxy the keel?.
fridge gasket needs replacement.
some portals are glazed. I am sure that is not a cheep replacement.
what else do I need to know?
thanks!!!

It’s pretty typical for iron keels to get rust spots. If you’re having the whole bottom soda blasted anyway you’ll probably need to barrier coat it all, and you’ll re-encase the keel as part of that. Otherwise it’s probably just a matter of sanding and spot treating rust where it shows through with each haul out.

Do u think the epoxy will eliminate the rust problem.
I think it manages it. Over time there may still be small spots that need cleaning up, but with proper preparation the epoxy barrier coat should be a nearly complete solution. I think your first step would be to see the keel as it is now. If it’s already in pretty good shape then I’d probably just spot treat any showing rust. If there are large flaking sections then it might just be easier to do the whole thing at once. There are a few tons of iron there so there aren’t any structural concerns from a little surface rust; it’s just a matter of how fair you want the surface.

@Davidasailor26 is spot on with his recommendations. It is not unusual to find a few rust spots on my keel on haulouts; I remove the rust completely with a wire brush fitted to an angle grinder, followed by application of interluxe 2000e epoxy. If the area is somewhat irregular, I fair it with epoxy fairing paste, apply a coat or two of 2000e, and antifouling paint. I have not seen any evidence to date that would require sand blasting & recoating the entire keel.

Anyone had to replace a section of cabin floor. In front of galley is uneven. Where can I get the decking?
thanks.

Great boat……

on mine, I spot clean the keel every year. Not a big deal. I grind down the rusted areas, paint with a rust inhibitor then with interlux 2000e.
Mine is a 2005 so we have different floors, however on last boat I was able to purchase sheets of teak and hollie sole boards at a local wood specialist. Had a cabinet maker friend cut them for me. Also though on the bottoms of the wood are small spacers to keep the floor off the stringers that may be missing.
I have replaced all of my running rigging with quality lines….. few at a time, but was overall less than &4,000. Standing rigging again is a big number but I plan to send them out, have them made then replace myself to save a lot. Once mast is down it’s not that difficult.
I have an in mast furling system that I love…. Though I did replace the sail as the one that was on the boat was original and had bad shape which gave periodic issues furling the sail. Replaced with a Neil pryde that cost about $3,800. Jib will be next but making do right now as it’s in good condition still.
What engine does it have? I have the yanmar which I love over the Volvo, but that’s just my opinion.
Plan on replacing thru hull and skin fittings. Beneteau used a low quality product….. I have not had any fail and they look fine when I remove them, but I have been doing a few a year and am almost done.
Look closely at the varnish job in the cabin. Some have an issue and have to redo completely due to pealing….. mine is fine. Was a recall originally. The kitchen counter also had issues that beneteau replaced if needed (mine had been replaced).
What configuration is the boat? The two cabins with the deep starboard cockpit lazerette is what I have. I was able to easily get a genset in there with tons of room left for all sorts of toys and stuff. also the galley in the aft starboard corner is nice and out of the way. With 3 cabin model galley is on port wall and doesn’t give cabin room when cooking……
Overall we love the boat, and spend several months each season living and traveling on her.great sailing, great accommodations. They are older boats and need a little refit but in my opinion worth every dollar spent!
Any questions feel free to ask.

Good luck

Thanks Greg,
great information. I had to pass on this boat. Had no AC. I live in Florida. I was told 10-12 boat dollars!!!
their are a couple more I am going to c. They are the 2 cabin version. I have not seen a boat with that pride of ownership factor. Hoping one of the next 2 I c will have that missing factor.
what size jib will u get?, I am torn between a smaller jib and a reacher or a 155.
thanks for the through hull info!!
