I broke the plastic upper ring on one of my winchs last weekend. They had become cracked with age and sun damage, and a big chunck broke off. I think they are Maxell winchs. Is there a place to get parts or replacement/used winches?? Do any of you have any extra's you would like to part with? E-Mail me at "wsdavis@fmtc.net" Thanks Scott Davis

Cruel and unusual

I just have to share with you the exquisite pain your posting caused me. You see, it implies that you were actually SAILING when you broke this winch. In the land of snow and ice I gazed upon my own boat today, buried under snow and shrink-wrap for the next five months...

Burried in snow

From the weather reports it looks like you all up North have started out this winter with a Bang. We even have had snow down in NC/SC in the last week or two. I do feel for all you Northern Sailers, but you decided to live up there. I don't mean to rub it in, but I will be out this weekend, and we race on New Years Day. You are welcome to fly down and crew/skipper if you like. It may not be warm out, but the water is not frozen. Last race was 25kts of blowing snow. I took my kids to the movies instead. Check out our web page at "www.homestead.com/catawbayachtclub/" Scott
