Just baught a 1990 Beneteau 35s5. It has a Volvo dripless seal on the shaft. Does this need to be burped? How is this done?

Thanks!

Just squeeze it after each launch ,you hear air come out then water. Don't forget to grease it with Volvo grease with flattened out straw once a year

# 2 is good way, but I can grab the shaft with fingers against the dripless and like roll them aft. That pushes in the front of the dripless untill water comes out, so gets the same results as the squeeze. B323.

I tried the squeeze method and it would not squeeze. I try the pushing back method tomorrow.

It doesn't deflect much at all when squeezed, but just that little bit should be enough to let the air out and water through. Be sure to squeeze the front most end or just aft of that and it should start to trickle.
