Hi guys. When trailering my H26 after a no show hurricane my rudder came loose from the bolt. Pretty soon ppl passing by started waving like maniacs, after a second I thought they were amazed by my boat but it turned out I was scraping the road with my rudder. It scraped about 1 inch in a sliced motion. Something like taking a saw and taking a slice in a 70-75 degree angle of 1 inch from the bottom up. I havent sailed it. The rudder is solid and 'looks' ridable, you guys think I shouldnt go out with it? I had to motor it to my slip and it felt the same. And should I replace it or fix it? It looks pretty fixable but dont know if its possible.....Tanks in advance. S/V Martina

Rudder Repair

Sorry to say we did this to our rudder also. Our dealer at the time was really close and he helped us with the repair. Would recommend getting it repaired.Ours has been ok ever since. My husband did the repair work and is not available to explain how- but as I remember it was not that difficult. Good Luck Stacie Boyd.

Seal it!

If by chance you don't fix it, as I don't think performance will change, you should flare it a bit and then seal it with gel coat or other expoy type material. If not you could wick water into the ff core and cause delamination in the future, a total loss. good luck
