Hi all:
The first job I did was to strengthen the bulkhead under the mast-step.
I took 2 pieces of 1X10 solid mahoghany and cut 2 pieces and laminated
them to each side of the bulkhead with West Marine epoxy and thickening
fibers. Thru bolted with about 20 1/4" SS machine bolts.
The pieces I cut out have a shape like a capital "D" rotated 90 degrees
anti-clockwise. The headroom to get into the forward V-berth is lower
by a few inches, but I don't mind so long as the mast step stays where
it should be. I also added more SS bolts to attach the mast step
bulkhead to the fiberglass bulkhead flange.
