My brother-in-law has contributed to the repairs and work of our Oday 35 so much that I consider him a partner in the boat. He has purchased a Sailrite sewing machine this year and has already rebuilt the dodger. We are now building a canvas boat cover for winter storage. All measurements have been taken over the sailing season and the bow section is almost complete. The plan is to build this in three section. It will go to the base of the stansions and all three sections will be zippered together and sinched together at the toe rail. We want to minimize the number of lines that run under the boat. Yesterday we made the cuts in the bow section for each of the stansions and sewed in collars around the slits. He build a temporary jig in the garage that resembled the bow of the boat to transfer the measurements from paper to the canvas. He was concerned that the three dimensional shape would not transfer easily. The technique seemed to work. We are kind of making it up as we go along but we seem to be on the right track. Anyone who has completed this project before, please feel free to add comments or lend advice. It will be much welcomed.
