I am attempting to build a pedestal rack for My Hunter 31, I have looked out there at the $300+ ones that can be purchased but I would rather go the economical route, has any one else built their own and if so how did you do it. I am working with a Merman pedestal and need to have room for GPS and Depth Gauges, possible a fold out table on the cabin side. Thanks to all for their input. - Chris w.

Ten bucks.

My "Navpod" cost me $10., the price of an eight foot section of vinyl fence rail and two end caps at Lowes. The inside of the rail has reinforcements and I inserted a piece of 2"X2" in the top and bottom section. I made it about 16" long, big enough for three Nexus instrument displays. I have pictures at home on the desktop(I am wireless at Panera's). However I did add a new offset and higher grab bar for mounting. That was $100. from TIQ.

If you don't already do it, be sure to watch ship shape tv. there all the time doing stuff like this. Just last week they built a container for a radio system. they built it out of a special type foam and then fiberglassed it. then gell coated it with a brush. looked great.
