Oday Daysailer Eastham
HI Everyone, I own Daysailer #1813 and it is going in the water this week after having been sitting on a trailer under a tarp for more than 20 years. I would like some help, please , in determining when it was built. I would really appreciate it someone here can tell me or point me in the proper direction to find the information I need.

THANKS!

Doug

I'd estimate early 1960s, take a ride over to the Stage Harbor Yacht Club some Saturday, they have a large fleet of DS and race a lot, someone will be able to estimate the year better than me. Or (maybe even better!) take a ride over to Arey's Pond Boatyard in Orleans, they used to be one of the top O'DAY Dealers (not just locally, but nationally?) and should be able to narrow down the build year for you.

Boats built since November 1972 are MUCH easier to get the build date, it is the last 2 digits of the Hull ID Number. Prior to 1972, O'DAY used 2 numbers for every boat. A HULL# and A CLASS#, I suspect 1813 is the CLASS# and so you have the 1813th Day Sailer Built, but as to the exact year?? APBY will know better than me!

Doug,
If you are ever in Assonet on a Saturday morning, you should stop in and see Rudy. He lives right next to the Assonet Inn and he works right out of his barn next to his house. He has all the books on the O'Day boats that came with all the parts and molds when he bought them out. http://www.drmarine.com/ I would call first to make sure that he's open. If he's not busy he may give you the info over the phone, but I rather doubt it.
Joe
