The Adler Barbour Cold Machine on my '93 37.5 wirks great, but I am getting a lot of ice build up at the top of the coils, near the middle of the split opening doors. I know there used to be some insulated foam tape between the two doors to prevent this. Upon further inspection, I find in the box itself, there are molded in recesses on each side of the box. It appears that there is supposed to be some king of mullion that can be placed across the box to seal the gap between the doors. Has anyone seen this?

Lid Gasket

Your lid has lost the ability to keep out the moist air and that is what is causing the frost build up on the evaporator. Go to your local home supply company and pick up some closed cell foam gasket material and place it under the edge of the lid and between the lids. This will improve the performance of the system.

Wooden Bar

There is a wooden bar that fits in the recesses that you describe. This gives the seal on the underside of the two hatches a place to rest and complete the seal around each hatch. It is removable to allow for easy access to the interior of the refrigerator. Your bar has apparently be removed and not replaced. get a replacement bar of teak at a marine store that has teak repair pieces for sale. Once installed, your icing problem should be cured, unless the hatch seals are bad. Good Luck. Paul S/V Zephyr

Frosting

I get little buildup over the course of the season. And I leave the fridge on 24 hours a day. I keep a small wool "blanket" over the lid at all times. It not only provides additional insulation, but it also blocks the moist air from getting in thru the lid.
