Does anyone know where to find a mosquito net that's made for poptops? You'd use it instead of the standard pop top enclosure? I remember seeing an ad recently where, you throw this large net (like a fishing net) over the cabin top. Seems quick and easy (as long as it doens't rain). Sound like a good or bad idea to anyone? Thanks.

Sounds good to me

Tom: I got my screen material at a camping or backpacking/rock climbing supply store. I made screens that go under the front hatch with velcro, and the onto the main hatchway by snapping onto the snaps for the pop-top cover. I put a strip of velcro on the inside of the hatchway across the top. Velcro cannot take being outside, from my experience. I sewed edges around all my screens. They have held up well for 20 years. I am going to try remaking them with a bigger mesh, because my screens are so fine, that they block too much air. There are 2 different sizes of netting an the one that is too small blocks the flow of air. I think your idea is good. If you want to keep it simple, you could just sew a rope, like 3/8 to 1/2 inch in diameter around the edge. When I make mine, I plan on sewing an edge from nylon and adding the snaps to snap on where the pop top cover normally snaps on. We recently discussed this in this fourm. I said that I thought that a screened nylon version made a lot more sense than the vinyl version. I have never seen one advertised, but I would like to. If you make one, let us know how it works. I spend plenty of time thinking about ventilation issues. Aldo

It sounds good to me,too

I agree that the nylon or nylon/netting or some other relatively inexpensive, easy to store and simple pop-top cover would be great. We have an '87 C-22 without the enclosure and prior to that had an '83 with the cover. It was heavy and a little awkward and the price of nearly $300 has kept me from buying one for the '87. Sounds like someone could do okay with such an idea

Snap locations

Where are the snaps located? I would like to place a screen on mine also. I want to locate them properly. Do the snaps rust in the weather? Thanks ahead for any help, Don

No rust, yet

Thanks ya'll for the ideas on bug screens. Might try to fashion one myself first and then opt for a store bought if I fail. The snaps on my poptop haven't rusted in like, 20 years!
