I am planning a trip from Great Lakes to the Atlantic, 9/1/2011, via the Erie Canal & Hudson. Can someone give me an estimate of expected travel time Buffalo to Hudson, via the Erie, and Hudson to Atlantic?

Andrew, I have never made the trip but some people I know have. I think they told me 4 days on the canal and 3 days on the Hudson.

Obviously, you will have to take your mast down. Friends who made this trip to become permanent Atlantic cruisers swear by the work at Hop-A-Nose Marina on the Hudson to have the mast re-rigged. I believe it is a short trip south of the canal on Catskill Creek.
