I have a Brydon head (59128-0000)that is allowing seawater into the bowl even it is set on "Dry Bowl". I purchased Jabsco rebuilt kit (29045-0000) manual toilet however very few of the parts fit. As I understand - Jabsco acquired Brydon a number of years ago. Do you know of a kit for the Brydon? thanks for your help!

It's time for a new toilet

Brydon was a Canadian company who made the Brydon Boy toilet, which was a version of the Jabsco manual, under a licensing agreement with Jabsco. The Brydon Boy was discontinued when Brydon went out of business in the early '80s. Jabsco continued to support it with parts through the '80s...then with just a "service kit" through most of the '90s, but finally discontinued all support for it nearly 10 years ago. No parts are still available any more. But after nearly 20 years, that toilet so worn out that a rebuild kit wouldn't help much if you could get one...nor would it solve your problem because one of the reasons water is filling the bowl is because the the wet/dry cam ("valve"), which isn't included in a rebuild kit for any toilet, has failed. But there's a second problem: the toilet was never installed correctly...there should be a vented loop in the intake that prevents water from entering the bowl, even in the wet mode...see "Figure 1" on page 3 of the installation instructions for the current version of the Jabsco manual toilet here: http://www.jabsco.com/files/29090_-_29120_-_3000_datasheet.pdf Vented loops are not just nneded in Jabsco manual toilets but ALL manual toilets. Relying on the wet/dry valve to prevent it is a good way to sink a boat...'cuz wet/dry valves in Jabsco and other compact toilets have a VERY high failure rate. Be sure to install one in the intake as shown in the instructions for any new toilet (note that it goes between the pump and the bowl, NOT between the thru-hull and pump) because it will not only keep water out of the bowl in the event of a wet/dry came failure, but in the event of HUMAN failure to remember to leave the toilet in the dry mode when not in use while aboard (ALWAYS close the intake seacock when leaving the boat). You might want to check out the link below...it goes a comprehnsive "marine toilets and holding tanks 101 manual" that can help you prevent a lot of problems.
