brown ooz

I am looking at a 2005 41 ds and there is a brown ooz running down the cabin side. It seems to originate under the overhang near the cockpit. It also appears that it is getting inside the boat as there are stains of a similar color on the blind over the porthole. I'm guessing there is wood under the overhang and that one or more of the screws that secure it are wet and weeping "mushy juice".

Anybody know about what is under the eyelash (overhang) and know of this problem and how to remedy it?

Yup.. that is water that has been in the coring of the cabin side or overhang. ..ya have a leak above the places where ya see the brown juice. could be a screw with water leaking in around it, getting into the core, then wicking down through the plywood and drooling out carrying goodies from the wood. Look for something that the owner installed on the outside, right above the brown stuff.. Could be a badly sealed port as well. Usually, one screw will not leak enough to do that .. it would take a few or a leak from a port.
