Bronze Shaft

Our Catalina 310 has a bronze shaft and it needs to be replaced. The previous owner didn't maintain the anodes and it's become slightly corroded
We have had advice from our surveyor to replace it. Can anyone answer if the bronze shaft is stock standard. Or if it was meant to be stainless and what the best replacement would be.
Cheers. Matt.

Yes; hull #147 came new with a bronze shaft. I ordered my replacement stainless shaft from CY.

Same here for hull 65. We had a bronze shaft and went with a stainless replacement. You should also consider going with a split coupling over the solid as well. You can't reuse your coupling and if anyone tells you it's ok run away from them. You need to have the shaft and coupling fit and faced to get a true straight connection. This has to be done by a machine shop and I suggest a good marine machine shop. You also need to lap fit the prop but you can do this yourself.

Several of us have done this. Don't hesitate to ask for advice if you need it.

Good luck,

Jesse
