Broken wire in mast to steamers

This is a Hunter 40.5 and the steamer light is about20' up. When I pulled the light off for repair 6" of broken cable came with it. There is enough slack in the cable under the mast were it goes into a pvc pipe(caulked) but I can't see how the wire was run,or supported and fed out the 1/2" hole. Looks like they built the mast around the wire. Please Help  THANKS

Well.......

You are correct the mast is built around the wire. I think it would be easier to order a mail order mast from 1800-yur-scrwd

I own a 87 H34 and de-masted for the first time.(only had boat 1 season) My steaming light was not functioning, and after we dropped the mast, I know why..... The wire coming from the steaming light was worn into two pieces. So I pulled new wire and put a new connector that fits into the mast opening on the deck.....The connector was a trailer light adapter, 4 post.The wire channels down a pvc pipe from the steaming light. The pvc pipe starts about 2 inches below where the steaming light is mounted, and at the base there is about 4 inches clearance from pvc pipe to the base of the mast on the inside. I used (I think it was) 18 gauge marine wire from west marine.Dont know if this helps or even makes sense....... Good luck.BP
