Broken Strut on a 1983 C&C 30 mk1

Inspection reveals that it is stainless, not bronze and had been welded...Is this original? or jury rigged by a previous owner? Can it safely be repaired or should it be replaced? ....if replaced what are the specs of the replacement?

I don't think it's original. You can buy one from the store on this site.
