broken stern rail

catalina 25, 30 montauk / manhattan
when I bought the boat this spring starboard forward stantion of the stern rail at the base had been welded. this past weekend at the same location on port snapped. obviously will have that one welded.

just wondering how common this is and if the welds will be reliable. haven't looked into the price of a replacement stern pulpit as an alternative?

Check out Garhauer. They make all the deck hardware for new Catalinas. Not sure if that was the case in 82.

They'll also be at the Annapolis show first week of October if you want to talk with them in person. My experience with them has been good and I think others on this site would say the same.

I removed the rail and had a welder redo the job last year. It seems fine so far, and a lot less expensive.
