We broke the aft shroud on the starboard side (the one that goes up to the spreaders) yesterday. Where do you folks go to get it replaced quickly. I would like to get back on the water next weekend (the last weekend before graduation), or at the very latest, May 12 (the day after graduation). I assume I can contact a rigger and they can look-up the specs and make one. Having never done this before, I don't know who to call. What are your suggestions? Thanks, for your help. or sailboat dealer will likely have the swaging press to make you a new one. Bring in both pieces of old one and they can duplicate. I had a new lower made for my Hunter 25 while I waited in the store. Cost was 60 some dollars including new turn buckle. Alternatively, try West marine or one of the other mail order outfits. Perhaps you can pay for rush delivery.

Get it fixed asap. the rig is designed to share the load with all 8 cables. I would take my jib block off, slide the car up the rail and attach the halyard tightly, not forcing it. Also when shrouds break this is usually a symptom of a larger proplem. check all of the others. Skip Cat 27 "Kid Knapper"

Jim, is it time to replace them all? Whats the standing rig vintage? If its over 10 years and has seen primarily salt water, you may want to consider redoing the whole lot. You were lucky this time, next time....? Where did it break on the shroud? Take a real good look at all your fittings, eyes, tangs and swages. Buy a trusted riggers time for a standing rig survey if you don't trust your self. Cheap insurance. Don

It broke where it is swagged at the bottom. It is still in one piece because only about half of the strands broke. West Marine said they could send it off, but it would take 10-14 days. They also suggested I call a rigger in the Clear Lake (Houston) area to make one, but I don't know who to call. They suggested buying two and replacing them in pairs. Thanks for you help. Jim
