Hunter 33.5 fl
Shift cable broke inside the Edson on my 1992 Hunter 33.5.
Would like to replace shift cable and throttle cable. These 2 cables are amost impossible to access. Is there a way to retrieve these cables from inside the Edson without totally dismantling the Edson? Thanks.

First, I have no indication if there is anything on top of the binnacle mount or on the wheel steering. That will have to be removed in order to access the top of the shifters for throttle and gear shift. You will need to remove the clevis pins by removing the cotter pins. Save them as you will reuse them. On the front of the pedestal below the wheel there should be a nut which may have a white plastic cover over it. take that off. There is another long cotter pin that will need to be removed from the plastic part the cables are attached to. you will have to remove the cables from the engine. Then feed them back to the compartment under the pedestal and pull them out. Make a note which hole in the bottom of the pedestal they are in by looking down and you may need a flashlight. pull them out. Note the length as they are the 3300 series cables. Purchase two and replace. If you do not how to do this, suggest you let a technician do that for you
