Called Lewmar and they said they never even heard of a Lewmar 23?! This cant be a good sign.

I emailed a winchspares.com to see if they possibly have the part im looking for but it looks like i might need to get a quote on a machine shop making a replacement. Or look at replacing both my primary winches.

Anyone been in this situation before? What did you do?

Thanks,
-Jared

Yup your right...it was a Maxwell 23! No wonder I couldn't find it haha.

guess they were bought out by an Australian company. Sent them email and got a reply very quickly with diagram of it asking what part. Its looking promising!

Got the info back on the broken sprocket and its $185 + $30 for international incurred shipping. Man, that's a lot considering i can get a whole new winch for about $800!

Im leaning toward new Harken primaries to replace the 25 yo work horses. I don't know what the life expectancy is on winches but these have to be getting up there. Granted it heavily depends on use and maintenance.
