Our midship stanchion was broken off from the pressure of our canvas cover over the winter. It looks like it was broken from the bolts as you can see the end of the bolts from the deck and the bottom plate is intact to the stanchion. Is this something we can repair ourselves and if so how is this done?

broken stanchion?

replace the stanchion base (if its a two piece stanchion) if not replace the whole thing, you can get the parts in the chandlery, or at any reputable marine supply. They should be resealed periodically. Its a pretty easy job with two people (opposite ends of the bolts)use sikaflex to seal the new ones, and while your at it it you may want to reseal the old one. I always use new bolts, nuts and washers.

stantions

I need to replace some of my stantions as well. I have been pricing out new ones and they seem to vary in price from all suppliers. so far the best prices that I have seen come from www.topsinquality.com www.rigrite.com is the most expensive(along with everything else they sell). www.garhauermarine.com is pretty decent in price. I'm sure that there is more out there, but these are what I have found

Were your bolts embedded in the fiberglass? It appears this is the case. How do you get the pins out of the deck ?
