OK I have broken the riser arm on the forward hatch of my 1985 H34. I can read that it is a Bomar hatch but have no idea what model. Going to the Bomar site it looks like a 100 cast series but hard to tell for sure from the pic and I hate to order not knowing if it is the correct riser. Would not surprise me if, like most everything else they no longer make it. Wondering if anyone has had to replace theirs and what they found. Sorry guys I looked at the store but you don't list anything for the H34 hatch riser.

You mentioned that you went to the Bomar site. My understanding is that Pompanette is the site for Bomar hatches, since I recently had to do that research for our old Bomar hatch. IIRC, that site has parts if you can identify your hatch. There is a "series" of hatches, all of them may not match your configuration (i.e., two support legs, number of sections of glass, etc.) but the support legs appeared to all be the same when I looked.

Maybe a call to Pompanette on Monday would be helpful.

Good luck.

I think you may be able to find the parts in the HOW store. Give them a call. If you have the old one off they can probably help you identify it.

I just disassembled my hatch riser arm to investigate why it wasn't operating well. Please post what solution you find.:)

I called Pomganette/Bomar and the rep walked me through making sure I knew which hatch I had on the H34 which I beleive is the original - the CAST 100 Series and the arm part # P100-00 (Riser arm for cast 100 series cast hatch). The riser arm is avialable all over I just typed it in and got several stores listed. At $78-90 and they are almost the same when you added different shipping. So I guess it depends where you live who has the best price.

SPLAX - mine was acting up when I bought it a couple of years ago - then it broke - the arm had been bent and bent back several times by PO from the look of it.

I noticed the port and starboard arms on my forward hatch had slightly different angles. I assume one side was replaced at some point with the wrong arm. I'd love to find a used to replace it but do not know where all the mid-80s Hunters went to die.

wufibugs - If your hatch has 2 arms then it is not the BOMAR CAST 100 that the 80's H34 use and you will need to check what hatch it is not just go off mid 80s. It may have had different orig or have been replaced.

That's a good warning, Srhum. I have to look carefully at manufacturer and model. It does not appear to have been replaced. I am convinced Steve Dion has memorized every part on the mid-80s Hunter 31, so if he peeks at this he will probably correct me before I get to the boat this weekend.

Dave - not the one on my H34 - it has a single arm cast 100 series hatch.

I did have two arms on the forward hatch. I would like to replace the missing arm.

Only one support arm here too.. on the starboard side.. The hatch has the cast bosses for another arm, but they are not drilled and tapped.

Claude.. Interesting ! I have exactly the same hatch and support arm but mine is on the starboard side ! Might be one of those things like how the water drains a different direction on the south side of the equator ?? The border at Canada might be causing the hatch arm to reverse? uuhh Maybe not..

Hunter 34 -
I replaced mine back in 2009. I had only the starboard arm at the time, now have only the port arm (the screw separated as I removed the broken arm and I didn't feel like drilling it out). I paid $75 with shipping from Defender, and it was worth it.

Isn't it strange  ? But I bought the boat in the USA and the arm was already on port. Unless PO switched it on your boat...or mine ? We need to get our boats side by side, with yours on my starboard, then open the hatches exactly the same and we'd have a matched set :D. Boat going in the water this Friday :D:D:D
