broken filler cap for yanmar 3ym20 transmission

Has anyone had to remove a broken plastic filler cap/dipstick from a transmission. The cap completely failed while being hand tighten, the head coming out but
leaving the threaded portion screwed into the transmission. This is plastic so I suspect fragments would remain in the transmission if I tried to tap it out with screwdriver.

Not surprising, I can't be the only one to have this happen and yes it is only about 5 deg C.

Try cutting a slot across the broken surface, deep enough to engage a flat blade screwdriver to allow the cap to be unscrewed. If you want a permanent fix, order a replacement from Caribluemarine.com
