A friend of mine slammed down the companionway cover and the piece that slides back and forth to give access to the interior. It's cracked in many places and it will definitely need replacement. My question to you is this, where would I go about finding such a replacement? Or if I'm feeling particularly handy, what would I need to make a new one myself? My boat is an '86 H23. It's 1/4" smoked Perspex (Acrylic)
and comes out easily. Your friendly local glass shop should be able to cut you a piece to fit. Then use the old one to drill pilot holes for the teak handles, drill to size and couterbore the holes. Don't over tighten when you re-install the teak as you will crack the new piece! I used a smear of Lifecalk under each piece of teak to prevent water ingress and rot. Have fun, it's an easy project.

Awesome, I'll give that a whirl. One more thing, kind of related but not really... My companionway cover leaks a LOT of water when it rains. After large rains I often find an inch or two of water in the bottom of my boat and never knew where it was coming from until I had a friend throw a bucket of water over the top of the closed companionway cover with me inside... I got soaked! Should I replace the teak railings, add some sort of weather stripping, add some kind of runner on the acrylic, anything? Has anyone else experienced this problem?

I guess its the clear sliding top thats leaking, if I understand correctly There is supposed to be a strip of teak on the top of the cover towards the front edge, that slides underneath the pop-top. If its not there, you need to add one. It should be tall enough to divert water but short enough to fit under the top (About 3/8's to a half inch) and long enough to reach reach the edges of the cover and let the water spill into the gutters on either side (Very important!) So it should stop about 3/4 to one inch from the edge of the top. If you need a pic what I'm talking about I'll go snap one for you.
