Unfortunately, I hit a sand bar and broke the down rope on my centerboard today. Is there anyway to replace the rope without taking the boat off of the trailer???? I have been brainstorming how to do that. It is an O'day DS 22

However you resolve this, I suggest you replace whatever is securing your "down rope" with this:
