Broken cable

Coming into the pier to get pumped out we put the boat in reverse. Of all times the cable to the transmission broke. Jamming the boat in reverse. Things were a littleinteresting for awhile.Does anybody know where I can get a new cable. The boat is a 1984 Hunter 34.

Teleflex brand control cables that will likely fit your application. Take the old one in for a replacement or call Hunter Marine Customer Service for your boat's correct length cable. Ours broke a few years ago under almost identical circumstances except ours broke after I shifted from reverse to stop the boat's movement and into neutral. Which part failed? The pedestal clevis on ours was what broke resulting from metal fatigue. Even though the clevis was a separate part I replaced the cable and clevis and kept the old cable as a spare.Terry

change them both

same thing happened to me one saturday on my '84,34 and the next day the other cable broke. luckily i bought both on the first mishap! bought mine at crowley$ in chicago.mike

Thank you for the replys. That would be a good idea to change them both while I have everthing apart. The throttle does feel funny. How come everthing always seems to break at the worst moment?Mike this boat came from Chicago. My brother lives in Naperville. I was raised in Aurora.Tommy T
