While I have a lot of old Bristol brochures, I don't have one on a Bristol 22. Looking at the Bristol 24, there are a lot of similarities, but not exactly. Your photo looks like it was taken with a wide angle to it, so there is distortion, I believe. The shear on a Bristol 24 is not as straight as the one in your photo, but like I said, the photo may have distorted the line. The windows on the 24 are not as rounded as your photo, which might suggest that it is not a Bristol. And the 24 has a full keel with an attached rudder, rather than a fin with a spade in your photo. The Bristol Caravel opted above is definitely not what you have. The Bristol Sailstar was not made in a 22-footer and the 19 and 23 had the same long keel with barndoor rudder as the Bristol 24. So, my guess is it is not a Bristol. As far as the hull # is concerned, boats of that vintage didn't have the hull ID number that boats of today have. They usually were defined by the sail number, which often was displayed on the mainsail. Speaking of the mainsail, if it is original, it might have a logo displayed which also could indicate the brand. That riveted on hull ID might be a state assigned hull number too.
