I'm in the market for a new outboard.I can geta brand new Briggs and Stratton for a very good price.Problem is no one seems to know anyone whose bought one.Any experiances good or bad?
I've been toying with the idea of switching to a 4-stroke motor. I looked into the Briggs. No long-shaft version and they're probably a little noisy with the above-water exhaust outlet. I kind of like that it's air-cooled though. No water pump headaches.
I looked into these last year for the same reasons you are looking at them, but from what I understand they are not designed for salt water or brackish. I don't think that they have changed, but if you use your boat in salt water, you may want to research this.
