I have a question about bridge clearance over the ICW at Stuart, Florida. I have been told that the bridge clearance from the ICW channel from Lake Okeechobee is 50'. But I have also heard that it is 60'. Does anyone have any recent experience in traversing the ICW from Lake Okeechobee to Stuart?

Clearance is 49 feet with the bridge raised. Indaintown marina has a heeling service which can squeeze you through with a little higher mast. My H33 at 47'3" breezed right through.

Thanks, Terry

Thanks for confirming that. When was the last time you made that passage?

Okeechobee

I passed through Okeechobee and Port Mayaca twice in April-May 2004. Unbelievable Garden of Eden wildlife on the canal on the western rim. Anchored for a couple of days in this rim canal just north of Moore Haven. The little fellow shown here was there but had a mama that gave us a real scare.

i made passage thru the waterway aug 1st 04 just before charlie struck...clearance at the bridge depends on the height of the water in the lake... the day i went thru clearance was 52 feet as the lake was low but after all the hurricanes past the clearance was down to 46' i think the attached link will give you daily heights of the lake and the bridge ( try http://www.saj.usace.army.mil/h2o/reports/r-oke.html ) good luck
