Does anyone know about this breather hose? It is at the top of the engine then runs down the side and hooks up to nothing. I think it may be the exhaust leek I have been trying to find. Thier is definetly blue smoke comming out of it. If anyone could help it would be great. Rich

run it back so it faces into the air intake screen, or just stuff it into a cannister (beer can, old aspirin bottle, whatever) with some closed cell foam to absorb the fumes. It leaks a bit of oil from the fumes. The newer engines have them routed to the air intake. We stuff ours in an Excedrin bottle, replace it every once in a while.

Breather Hose
Hi Richard; I used to have a 1985 Catalina 30. The hose is to vent crankcase blowby, but as the engine wears over time the blow by gets excessive. I corrected the problem by extending the hose up and around to the air cleaner. That created a semi closed system and it stopped the bad smell and smoke. Steve Mielke P.S. My l995 C-30 came from the factory with a hose to the air cleaner.
