Another Perspective

The Gulf contains 643 quadrillion gallons of water. If the Deep Water Horizon leak continues at full capacity, not disrupted, until August 2010 it will be equivalent to, one-millionth of an ounce in a bath tub full of water.
I know when it is in your couple of gallons of water it really sucks. Now that they seem to have it capped the very large majority of the oils effects will dissipate quickly.
Kind of helps keeps things in perspective when dealing with the mess. Now that the well is capped (and hopefully will stay that way) we can make progress in cleaning up the rest of the spill.
Trying to compare the effects of other oil spills like Valdez to this one is apples and oranges first the oil is very different and the environment and temperatures are nowhere near similar. A good analogy might be adding sugar to your tea. Ever try to get your iced tea to the proper sweetness after it has already been chilled? It is not going to happen the sugar will just sit on the bottom of the glass. In a few weeks the Gulf water temps are going to be 90 degrees and the oil is going to break down and dissipate quickly.
