Bowsprit seat?

I am a couple weeks away from transporting a 2002 386 Hunter home. It appears the previous owner installed a bowsprit seat but I wanted to confirm before letting anyone heavy sit on it.

If you mean upside-down it sure looks like it.

Even assuming that's 1" SS tubing we see, I wouldn't even trust a child sitting on the seat. The struts are too short for thin wall tubing and the quality of the welds are an unknown for starters.

The bigger concern is the softening of the cold rolled tubing in the area of the welds. Adding everything up, just not worth the risk of having anyone sitting on that seat

Thanks for the feedback. Having built several roll cages, I think I may be able to come up with a stronger option that would work.

More than welcome.

Be sure to post your upgrade as it may be helpful to others who are suffering from a previous owner.

PO's are a nasty bunch :yikes:.
