Capsized the boat on my 2nd sail in about 8' of water and the mast got buried in the mud. With 4 kids in the water and a thunderstorm on the horizon, the mast was freed by using a power boat to pull the bow forward and then in a circular motion. The result was that the mast (about 24' long) has a 1.5" curve (bow) about 8' from the top. There is no crimping in the aluminum and the curve is along the bow/stern axis of the mast. I have sailed since then (now have a float at the top of the mast) but the main sail will not go all the way up as I suspect the slides are binding in the upper guide track due to the curve. Any suggestions on how to straighten the mast or do I just sail with it as is or get a new one?

If you have insurance, you could go that route. If not, seek advice from a rigger in your area. Last resort you could support the mast about 4 feet on either side of the bend and put some weight on it.
