I had a problem with the bow thruster getting stuck on and it caused a fire in the fore cabin, thankfully we put it out fast and very little damage. So my question is, how could I have shut off the power to the thruster? I tried all the breaker switches and that did'nt help????

Look for another breaker

Hard to believe there isn't a breaker for the thruster, which would have shut it off. Have a good look around and see what other breakers are installed. Try switching any you find off to see if they're for the thruster. Beneteau installs seperate breakers away from the main panel for the anchor windlass and I wouldn't be surprised they do the same for the thruster. They're usually in the aft cabin on the forward face of the bunk next to the battery switches. Some others can be found in the forward cabin as well. I'd start forward first. Also check your manual or call the local dealer or even the factory, but unless someone did a poor job on the installation there should be one. Some were factory installed, others by dealers or local shops. If there isn't one then install one yourself or have it done so you don't run into the problem again. I'd also see if I could figure out what caused it to stick in the first place. Perhaps a bad switch at the helm? Or a sticky relay in the unit itself? Good luck. Mike

Starter stayed on / engaged

This summer I had a similar issue with the starter on my 3GM 30 Yanmar - I started the engine (luckily just at the gas dock and on my way back to my own dock) - and the starter stayed engaged and on. - The only cure is to kill all of the power on the boat - Use your main battery switches - let things cool down a bit - then try and engage the batteries again and/or get a mechanic. Yup, I learned this the hard way too - went thru two starters Regards Brian

I also had a bow thruster fire on my 2002 473. The power is automatically cut off when you turn the engine off. There is not a separate breaker for the thruster. When mine started smoking I had just turned off the motor when it was discovered but still turned off every breaker just in case.
