I have a 1992 H28 with a stock Hunter bow roller. I would like to replace the original with one that will securely hold a Bruce-type anchor, or figure out a way to carry a Bruce-type anchor. It is obvious that the anchor well is designed for a Dansforth anchor. Do any other H28 owners carry a Bruce? How do you stow it?

Anchors

I put an after market set-up on my 1985 H31 bow 10 years ago and it has worked great. I use a CQR but the system should work fine with a Bruce. I'll upload a pic ASAP for you. Good luck Kurt

Bow Roller for H31

Kurt, I want top install a good bow roller on my H31 for a CQR, but I am concerned about attaching it well. There is no place to install backing plates under the mast head and if you have any pictures I'll also appreciate to see what you did. Thank you and regards Ed

H31 bow roller

I'm not sure if this will relate to the H28 but it worked great for the H31. I couldn’t figure out a good way to use mechanical fasteners so I had to weld it. The welder got the heat too high and the weld zones are prone to surface rust, you can see I’ve had to paint the welds. The interior SS surface also started showing some rust from anchor chain abrasion so I painted that area too. I have a lot of pics of the set-up. I can only put 1 here. I'll try to post the rest in an article / upgrade format for the H31 section of HOW in the next few days. With a 45 CQR, 120’ of 3/8”chain & 280’ of ¾” triple braid nylon line I can get a good scope even in 40’ of water and I’ve held tight in 75mhp winds. good luck Kurt

Kurt: You can post as many pictures as you need in the photo forum. They also stay there forever.
