Bow pulpit

I have recently purchased an ODay 39 l984. The bow pulpit is rusting so I am fairly sure that it is made out of aluminum. If this is true than other ODay owners must have had this same problem . please help| My E mail address is berkshire398 @aol.com Thank you Howie

what does the rust look like?

If the rust is brown, like the one you would expect to see a piece of regular steel, then the pulpit is made out of Stainless steel. There are many grades of stainless steel. All of them eventualy rust, some faster than others. Aluminum corrodes too, but you will see a whitish powder forming on top. There are many product that can remove the rust on top of stainless steel. I read somewhere that lime juice will also do the trick.

Rust Problems

Hi my name is Howie & I thank you for the information you sent me reguarding my rusting bow pulpit.The rust is brown and seems to be rusting through almost completly.It looks like it is rusting at the welds. Thank you Howie
