The bow has some kind of cap at the top where the forstay attaches to the deck. It's a black triangular piece. Seems to be fiberglass. Anyway, It is broken and will chafe line if not resolved. Can this part be purchased ?

doubt that it can be replaced.

Tony: I doubt that it can be replaced. Have you thought about having a piece of stainless stell made to fit the area? Then you can just drill and tap it. It will look like an OEM installation if done properly. Be sure to have the drill counter sunk holes in the plate for the proper size screws.

If it is fiberglass, it can be repaired.

I also have a 1980 33. I agree with you, it looks like fiberglass. After it is taken off it can likely be mended with epoxy. Also fiber matting and filler may be required. Fiberglass is easy to work with. When it is fixed just paint it black and refit it. It will look like new again.

H33 bow plate

The piece is indeed fiberglass. I had to repair mine on my 79 H33. Photo is of the polyester resin pad the original was seated in. No particular problem in removing the original after the through bolted hardware is removed. Chisel out the original bedding pad, repair the old bow plate using epoxy and fiberglass. Coloring is available for the epoxy. Rebed the repaired bow plate in slightly thickened epoxy. good as new...or better. You can see from the photo that the original bedding did not extend completely under the entire bow plate.

Bow plate

Mine was past any stage of repair, I had one made out of stainless steel, it is 1/8" plate with a rub rail welded on the edge and polished so there are no rough edges
