Do you have any methods you've used to attach the bow marker light to the pulpit?

My marker light bracket broke on my 1988 Mark II. I ground the little bit left of the metal down flush. I located a light that came apart and allowed the bow pulpit tubing to fit within a round fitting on the light unit itself. Literally clasped around the pulpit. I used accordian type plastic wire shielding to cover the exposed two-three inches of wiring coming from behind the light for an excellent finish. No issues for the last four-five years. That was the easiest, most effective and most affordable method for replacement.

I can't figure out the attachment means you're talking about.

Did you just drill through the pulpit tubing and the bow marker light and then bolt them together?

The bow light I bought and I am not sure of the brand name right now (maybe Aqua Signal) was a two piece unit. The front portion or housing had the red and green lenses and the rear portion was basically a rear cover, but it was made to fit around a railing and in this cae the bow pulpit. The rear piece had a cut out to fit around and firmly over the pulpit. So I attached this light and with the two wires coming out of the puplit from the original light covered them with that accordian looking black plastic wire wrap they use on computers. Cheap stuff you can buy at any computer store (about 3/8 inch iameter).

It looks better then the original.

I might be going up to the boat this weekend and will to get a photo of the set up. This was by far the best afternative for a bow light. I would have had to weld on a new bracket or install masthead light configuration if I could not find this rail fitting light.

PDA,
I think there is a thin SST plate that may have been welded in place with a hole pattern to attach the Aqua Signal bow light. I bought a Hella LED from Defender that was deck mounted on sale (good deal) and ended up using a piece of aluminum angle to mount it to the existing bracket. The original Aqua Signal is a vertical surface mount.

Bob- yes, the stainless steel welded bracket was broken by the jib furling drum. I ordered the proper LED for the Aqua Signal light ($20 including shipping) to replace the incandescent festoon bulb.

I'll configure something to make it fit and make certain it doesn't get near the drum.

My light bracket broke off as well but so liitle was left that I was to easily grind the rest away. Alternatives were few including welding on a new plate! The fitted bow light I described was the perfect replacement solution. I doubt their are any differences between the Mark II and Mark III bow pulpit. I think the Mark I boats have bow lights under the gunnel and fitted in the hull.
